Swindle was assigned to 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, 2nd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia.

Benjamin B. Wise

Wise, 34, of Little Rock, Arkansas, died January 15, 2012, in Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany, of injuries sustained on January 9 in Balkh province, Afghanistan, when enemy forces attacked his unit with small-arms fire. Sgt. 1st Class Wise was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.

Thomas A. Ratzlaff

ArkansasSpecial Warfare Operator Senior Chief Petty Officer (SEAL) Thomas A. Ratzlaff, 34, of Green Forest, Arkansas, died August 6, 2011, in Wardak province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when his CH-47 Chinook helicopter crashed. Senior Chief Petty Officer Ratzlaff was assigned to an East Coast-based Naval Special Warfare unit.

Loren M. Buffalo

Buffalo, 20, of Mountain Pine, Arkansas, died March 9, 2011, in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device.  Cpl. Buffalo was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 75th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

Ethan C. Hardin

ArkansasSpc. Ethan C. Hardin, 25, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, died January 7, 2011, of wounds suffered at Logar province, Afghanistan, when insurgents attacked his unit using an improvised explosive device and small arms fire. Spc. Hardin was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Polk, Louisiana.

On January 11, 2011, Spc. Hardin was posthumously promoted to sergeant.

Chad S. Wade

ArkansasCpl. Chad S. Wade, 22, of Bentonville, Arkansas, died December 1, 2010, while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. Cpl. Wade was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California.

David S. Robinson

ArkansasSpc. David S. Robinson, 25, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, died November 20, 2010, in Qalat, Afghanistan, of injuries suffered in a non-combat related accident. Spc. Robinson was assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, Vilseck, Germany.

UPDATE: On November 23, 2010, Spc. Robinson was posthumously promoted to sergeant.
