IowaCpl. Zachary C. Reiff, 22, of Preston, Iowa, died Nov 21 of wounds suffered November 18, 2011, while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. Cpl. Rieff was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Twentynine Palms, California.

Jon T. Tumilson

IowaSpecial Warfare Operator Petty Officer 1st Class (SEAL/Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist) Jon T. Tumilson, 35, of Rockford, Iowa, died August 6, 2011, in Wardak province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when his CH-47 Chinook helicopter crashed. Petty Officer 1st Class Tumilson was assigned to an East Coast-based Naval Special Warfare unit.

Maher was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 168th Infantry Regiment, Iowa National Guard, Shenandoah, Iowa.

IowaSgt. Adam D. Craig, 23, of Cherokee, Iowa, died March 4, 2011, at the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Maryland, of a non-combat related illness. Sgt. Craig was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 113th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division, Sioux City, Iowa.

Shawn A. Muhr

Muhr, 26, of Coon Rapids, Iowa, died January 29, 2011, in Helmand province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device.  Spc. Muhr was assigned to the 264th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 82nd Sustainment Brigade, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

IowaLt. Col. Robert F. Baldwin, 39, of Muscatine, Iowa, died in a helicopter crash September 21, 2010, during combat operations in Zabul province, Afghanistan. Lt. Col. Baldwin was assigned to brigade headquarters, 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

David A. Wisniewski

IowaCapt. David A. Wisniewski, 31, of Moville, Iowa, died July 2, 2010, of wounds sustained June 9 in a helicopter crash near Forward Operating Base Jackson, Afghanistan. Capt. Wisniewski was assigned to the 66th Rescue Squadron, Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada.
