Explosive Ordnance Disposal Petty Officer Technician 1st Class Sean P. Carson, 32, of Des Moines, Washington, died August 16, 2012, in a helicopter crash northeast of Kandahar, Afghanistan. Explosive Ordnance Disposal Petty Officer Technician 1st Class Carson was assigned to an explosive ordnance disposal mobile unit in San Diego, California.

Jarrod A. Lallier

Pfc. Jarrod A. Lallier, 20, of Spokane, Washington, died June 18, 2012, in Zharay, Kandahar province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when individuals in Afghan Police uniforms turned their weapons against his unit. Pfc. Lallier was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Mathew G. Fazzari

1st Lt. Mathew G. Fazzari, 25, of Walla Walla, Washington, died June 6, 2012, in Qarah Bagh, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when his helicopter crashed. 1st Lt. Fazzari was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Lance Cpl. Ramon T. Kaipat, 22, of Tacoma, Washington, died April 11, 2012, while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. Lance Cpl. Kaipat was assigned to 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California.

Daniel B. Bartle

Capt. Daniel B. Bartle, 27, of Ferndale, Washington, died January 19, 2012, while supporting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. Capt. Bartle was assigned to Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 363, Marine Aircraft Group 24, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.

Neil I. Turner

Pfc. Neil I. Turner, 21, of Tacoma, Washington, died January 11, 2012, in Logar province, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained from a non-combat related incident. Pfc. Turner was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 41st Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, Fort Bliss, Texas.

Mikayla A. Bragg

Spc. Mikayla A. Bragg, 21, of Longview, Washington, died December 21, 2011, in Khowst province, Afghanistan. Spc. Bragg was was assigned to the 201st Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Knox, Kentucky.

Michael R. Tatham

Chief Petty Officer (SEAL) Michael R. Tatham, 33, of University Place, Washington, was involved in a fatal motorcycle accident October 12, 2011, while on rest and recuperation leave from supporting Operation Enduring Freedom in Bali, Indonesia. Chief Petty Officer Tatham was assigned to a West Coast based Naval Special Warfare unit.

Nathan L. Wyrick

Sgt. Nathan L. Wyrick, 34, of Enumclaw, Washington, died October 10, 2011, in Kandahar province, Afghanistan. Sgt. Wyrick was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York.

On October 13, 2011, Sgt. Wyrick was posthumously promoted to staff sergeant.

Alexander J. Bennett

Sgt. Alexander J. Bennett, 24, of Tacoma, Washington, died August 6, 2011, in Wardak province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when his CH-47 Chinook helicopter crashed. Sgt. Bennett was assigned to the 7th Battalion, 158th Aviation Regiment (General Support Aviation Battalion), New Century, Kansas.

Goldsmith, 28, of Colville, Washington, died July 15, 2011, at Camp Bastion Hospital, Afghanistan, of injuries suffered when insurgents attacked his unit with rocket-propelled grenade fire in Helmand province, Afghanistan. Staff Sgt. Goldsmith was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.

Joseph W. Schultz

Capt. Joseph W. Schultz, 36, of Port Angeles, Washington, died May 29, 2011, in Wardak province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. Capt. Schultz was assigned to the 3rd Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
