Kevin J. Griffin

Command Sgt. Maj. Kevin J. Griffin, 45, of Laramie, Wyoming, died August 8, 2012, in Kunar province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when he encountered an insurgent who detonated a suicide vest. Command Sgt. Maj. Griffin was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado.

Sean M.N. O’Connor

Lance Cpl. Sean M.N. O’Connor, 22, of Douglas, Wyoming, died June 12, 2011, while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. Lance Cpl. O’Connor was assigned to 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California.

Phillip C. Tanner

Sgt. 1st Class Phillip C. Tanner, 43, of Sheridan, Wyoming, died October 26, 2010, at Ali Al Salem, Kuwait, of injuries sustained in a non-combat incident. Sgt. 1st Class Tanner was assigned to the 106th Transportation Battalion, 101st Sustainment Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

Jacob A. Ross

Lance Cpl. Jacob A. Ross, 19, of Gillette, Wyoming, died March 24, 2010, while supporting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. Lance Cpl. Ross was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

Ryan L. Zorn

Staff Sgt. Ryan L. Zorn, 35, of Upton, Wyoming, died November 16, 2009, in Tal Afar, Iraq, of injuries sustained during a vehicle roll-over. Sgaff Sgt. Zorn was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 34th Armor Regiment, 1st Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas.

Bruce E. Hays

Capt. Bruce E. Hays, 42, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, died September 17, 2008, in Gerdia Seria, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device. Capt. Hays was assigned to the Wyoming Joint Forces Headquarters, Wyoming Army National Guard, Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Tyler E. Pickett

Staff Sgt. Tyler E. Pickett, 28, of Saratoga, Wyoming, died June 8, 2008, in Kirkuk Province, Iraq, of wounds suffered when his unit was attacked by enemy forces using improvised explosive devices. Pickett was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, New York.

David D. Julian

Staff Sgt. David D. Julian, 31, of Evanston, Wyoming, died March 10, 2008, in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when a suicide bomber detonated an explosive device. Julian was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia.

Brian M. Long

Staff Sgt. Brian M. Long, 32, of Burns, Wyoming, died June 10, 2007, in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered from an explosive ordnance. Long was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team), Fort Lewis, Washington.

Scott A. Miller

Pvt. Scott A. Miller, 20, of Casper, Wyoming, died June 9, 2007, in Baqubah, Iraq, of wounds suffered from enemy small arms fire. Miller was assigned to the 5th Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team), Fort Lewis, Washington.

Jason J. Corbett

Spc. Jason J. Corbett, 23, of Casper, Wyoming, died January 15, 2007, of injuries sustained when his unit came in contact with enemy forces using small arms fire during combat operations in Karmah, Iraq. Corbett was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, Fort Richardson, Alaska.

Theodore A. Spatol

Staff Sgt. Theodore A. Spatol, 59, of Thermopolis, Wyoming, died of a non-combat related illness in Thermopolis on December 14, 2006. Spatol was assigned to the 1041st Engineer Company, Rock Springs, Wyoming.

James J. Arellano

Pfc. James J. Arellano, 19, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, died on August 17, 2006, in Baghdad, Iraq, of injuries suffered when his patrol encountered enemy forces using improvised explosive devices and small arms fire. Arellano was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 67th Armored Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

Charles E. Munier

Lt. Col. Charles E. Munier, 50, of Wheatland, Wyoming, died on June 12, 2006, at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, D.C., from a non-combat related cause, which occured on June 5, 2006, in Kabul, Afghanistan. Munier was assigned to the Wyoming Army National Guard’s training site in Guernsey, Wyoming.

Brian D. Bland

Staff Sgt. Brian D. Bland, 26, of Weston, Wyoming, died January 26, 2005, in the CH-53E helicopter crash near Ar Rutbah, Iraq. Bland was assigned to 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Base Hawaii.

Kyle W. Burns

Lance Cpl. Kyle W. Burns, 20, of Laramie, Wyoming, died November 11, 2004, as a result of enemy action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. Burns was assigned to 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California.

Robert L. Lucero

Capt. Robert L. Lucero, 34, of Casper, Wyoming, was killed on September 25, 2003, in Tikrit, Iraq, when he was struck by an improvised explosive device. Lucero was assigned to the 4th Infantry Division Rear Area Operation Center, U.S. Army National Guard, Casper, Wyoming.

Leif E. Nott

1st Lt. Leif E. Nott, 24, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, died on July 30, 2003, in Belaruz, Iraq, of wounds received from hostile fire. Nott was assigned to A Troop, 1st Battalion, 10th Cavalry, Fort Hood, Texas.

Joseph P. Mayek

Pfc. Joseph P. Mayek, 20, of Rock Springs, Wyoming, died on April 14, 2003, in Iraq, after being struck by an AP round that was discharged from an M2 Bradley vehicle. Mayek was assigned to C Company, 2nd Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment, Smith Barracks, Germany.

Brendon C. Reiss

The remains of Marine Sgt. Brendon C. Reiss, 23, of Casper, Wyoming, were identified on April 11, 2003. Reies’ unit was engaged in operations on the outskirts of An Nasiriyah on 23 March. He was previously classified as Duty Status Whereabouts Unknown (DUSTWUN). Reiss was assigned to 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, based in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
